True Cost Per Hour Calculator

This calculator runs on Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC), a costing method used across manufacturing that works out what your time and equipment genuinely cost, then charges each workcentre only for what it actually uses. It's the first step toward accurate estimating rates and true product costing.
Step 1
Shop capacity
Total shop hours per year: 0 Practical capacity factor applied: 80%
Step 2
Fixed operating costs
Set costs you're paying whether the shop's running or closed. Each workcentre picks up its share based on how much of your team's labour hours it actually uses, not an even split.

Supervision
Add each supervisory role separately, headcount and salary. The calculator adds 32% in additional costs to cover super, workers comp, and leave.
Total fixed operating costs per year (incl. supervision) $0
Step 3
Your Workcentres
Add every activity or workcentre your shop runs: welding, cutting, drilling, etc. We'll work out what each one actually costs per hour, based on machine, labour, and its fair share of the overheads above. Labour rates are based on the Fair Work Manufacturing Award (Clerks Award for front office roles), loaded 32% on top to cover superannuation, workers compensation, and leave entitlements.
